A 54-year-old woman from Washtenaw County, Michigan, has become the latest winner of the Fantasy 5 jackpot, taking home a prize of $309,989. The winning ticket was purchased at the Belleville Amoco, located at 10950 Belleville Road in Belleville, Michigan.
The woman, who chose to remain anonymous, admitted that Fantasy 5 is one of her favorite lottery games. She usually buys her tickets online, but she purchased the winning ticket in-store because she was out for breakfast. On the day of the win, she didn't usually check the tickets right after the game's drawing, but she decided to scan her ticket with the Michigan Lottery app on the night of the Fantasy 5 drawing.
In the Fantasy 5 game, players are required to choose 5 numbers from a field of 39 numbers. The draw takes place every day at 7:29 PM local time. To participate in the same-day drawing, players need to purchase their tickets online or via retail outlets no later than 7:08 PM on the same day.
The exact odds of winning the jackpot are not explicitly stated for Michigan’s Fantasy 5, but based on common Fantasy 5 formats in many states, the odds of winning the jackpot are approximately 1 in 575,757.
The woman initially expected to see a $10 win, but she was "stunned" when she saw a $309,989 win on the screen. She plans to use a portion of her winnings to help her daughter with student loans and pay bills. The rest of the winnings, she intends to save.
